Summary:
The estate of a patient who died after seeking medical treatment, including chemotherapy, from the Defendants claims that medical malpractice caused her death. Plaintiff Maurice Farissier, as Executor of the Estate of Phyllis Farissier, deceased, and individually, sues Paul Sowray, M.D., and Northwest Oncology & Hematology, S.C., a corporation, Defendants, and St. Alexius Medical Center, a corporation, Respondent in Discovery.

The Plaintiff's decedent, Phyllis Farissier, was a patient of the Defendants from June 9, 2003 until November 28, 2003.

The Complaint alleges that the Defendants were negligent in the patient's care and treatment in failing to diagnose her with bleomycin toxicity, and in failing to timely initiate prednizone therapy in reaction to pulmonary fibrosis in the patient due to bleomycin toxicity.

As a result of these and other negligent acts or omissions, the patient is allegedly to have suffered injuries causing her death on November 28, 2003. The patient is survived by her husband, Maurice Farissier, her son, Maurice D. Farissier, and her daughter Sharon (Farissier) Darpel.

Damages in excess of $50,000 are sought for wrongful death under 740 ILCS 180/1 et seq. and for the patient's pain and suffering prior to death under the Survival Act, 755 ILCS 5/27-6.
