John graduated from Emory Law School in 1976 and Harvard College in 1971. He joined Gardiner Koch & Weisberg in 2004. John practiced litigation for 15 years in Atlanta, Georgia, before moving to Chicago in 1992. At Gardiner Koch Weisberg & Wrona, he continues his representation of businesses involved in contract disputes and also represents parties to bankruptcy proceedings, including stay relief and preference litigation.

John is a member of the bar of the United States Supreme Court, the Courts of Appeal for the 7th and 11th Circuits, the Northern Districts of Illinois, Indiana, and Georgia, and the bars of Illinois and Georgia.

John is currently a member of the Board of Education of New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. Previously he was an officer and member of the board of The Music of the Baroque and of the Harvard Clubs of Chicago and Atlanta and has been a member of the vestry of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, Wilmette.
