Summary:
The Defendant inpatient medical facility, located in Evergreen Park, Illinois, is accused of medical malpractice in the care and treatment of the Plaintiff's decedent, Violet Wlodarski, who allegedly fell on three separate occasions between May 26, 2005 and May 27, 2005, twice while making transfers from the restroom, and once while getting out of bed. The Complaint alleges that the Defendant was negligent in failing to take adequate fall precautions and/or provide adequate fall protection for the patient, in failing to provide proper assistance to the patient so that she could use the restroom facilities, and in failing to timely transfer the patient back to Little Company of Mary Hospital for treatment of her left hip fracture and left wrist injury. These and other negligent acts or omissions are alleged to have caused the patient to suffer injuries resulting in her death on June 12, 2005. Damages in excess of $30,000 are sought for wrongful death under 740 ILCS 180/1 et seq., and for the patient's pain and suffering prior to death under the Survival Act, 755 ILCS 5/27-6.
